What are the different types of mesothelioma? Mesothelioma is an aggressive cancer that affects the layers of lung and stomach membranes. The type of mesothelioma with second-highest patients is peritoneal mesothelioma. Similar to the first one, it is all about the asbestos accumulation but the difference is only regarding the placement.

Sometimes, the dust is not only inhaled but also swollen. The dust is accumulated in the peritoneum of the stomach cavity membrane. Then, it causes damage and inflammation if it is not diagnosed and treated immediately.

Pericardial Mesothelioma

Next, the asbestos dust can also attack the area of the heart. Again, what to be affected is not exactly the main organ but the membrane that covers it. The dust is accumulated and it causes inflammation. For further effects, the inflammation also often leads to the abnormal cells around this area alongside pleura to form cancer.

Commonly, the pericardial mesothelioma is the continuation of pleural mesothelioma in which the dust has been attacked the lung membrane before. In other words, when a patient has been suffered from the pericardial mesothelioma, there is a big chance that he has had the pleural mesothelioma before.

It has not exactly known yet how the asbestos dust can enter and accumulate in the organs. However, some cases indeed show that the entrance and accumulation indeed do happen. Probably, it is due to the toiletry and water areas that are not clean and hygienic.
