Veterans Hospitals

Today’s economy can make it difficult for any individual to afford medical care. In addition to this nations medical crisis, there are many patriotic men and women that were injured defending their countries freedom ,that do not get the medical or psychiatric care that they deserve. There are also Veterans that have long since retired from the armed forces, that do not have insurance and cannot afford to get even routine medical care. Without Veterans hospitals, many would go without vital medical and psychiatric care. Vet hospitals are sometimes the only option for those that would otherwise get no medical care at all.

Those in the armed forces face many difficulties while serving and when returning home. There are medical and psychiatric issues that those around them may not understand. By going to a vet hospital, they are more likely to find answers and feel accepted by those around them. The average citizen cannot fully appreciate what it is like to be injured by a land mind, either medically or mentally. While many doctors at a local hospital would be able to treat such an injury, a veteran may be more comfortable at a vet hospital because they would feel camaraderie with others at the hospital. A vet is more likely to seek treatment at a place where they will not feel judged on their actions or afflictions, such as a veterans hospital.

Many who have served this country also face psychiatric issues, such as post traumatic disorder. Without veterans hospitals, these men and women may be without an option for treatment because of finances or because of lack of knowledgeable practitioners. While at vet hospitals, they may get individual treatment as well as group therapy. Vet hospitals offer a unique benefit with group therapy because the veterans can share their experiences with other vets. By sharing their experiences in this venue, vets can get effective medical and psychiatric treatment at their local vet hospitals that they may not be able to get elsewhere.

Veterans hospitals have a unique advantage for those that have served in the armed forces. On occasion, vets have illnesses that are a direct result of combat. In these cases, it is less likely that their symptoms would be recognized at their local hospital. Veterans hospitals can frequently find ailments caused by combat faster and treat them more effectively because of their experience with similar cases.

Vet hospitals are a vital for proper, affordable medical care for our countries veterans. At present time, there are too many vets that never get the medical care they deserve. An important part or running a veterans hospital is community outreach, so that none of our vets health is forgotten. Just as vets have defended this country, veterans hospitals defend the medical rights of those same men and women.
